For those of you familiar with TikTok, Instagram Reels, or any other kind of pop-culture platform, you've likely encountered the Ins and Outs trend—a trend where creators categorize items, aesthetics, or even activities under the two categories: Ins and Outs. The categories are blunt to the bone. Ins allude to the notion that a particular thing should stay at the top of the trend ladder or part of a routine. Outs suggest that a thing has run its course, and it's time to say goodbye.

Having seen my fair share of Ins and Outs on social media and oozing pure excitement over the fact that Summer is officially in full swing, I compiled my own list of fashion Ins and Outs for Summer 2025—only my list focuses on the things I'm  particularly enjoying this season: my Ins.

So, without further explanation, here it is: Sam I Am's Summer Ins.

Polka Dots

Throughout this year, Polka Dots have popped up like a case of highly contagious chicken pox. Anna Wintour wore them. Countless Instagram influencers have sported the print. Even two Vogue Writers, Olivia Allen and Cortne Bonilla, have written respective articles on the dots.

Polka dots are fun and eye-catching, and I have no problem with them staying in! Whether you wear them in a stand-alone garment like a dress or pair a polka dot piece with a basic, there are plenty of ways to incorporate polka dots into your outfits this Summer!

Matching Workout Sets

With the school year over and more time on my hands, I've been sure to spend my free time at my Heaven on Earth: CorePower Yoga (specifically their "Sculpt" class). Almost nothing makes me feel quite as good as the workout itself, except for wearing matching workout sets there.

This Summer, whether it's at CorePower, the gym, a run around the neighborhood, or any other active activity, you'll be sure to catch me in a matching workout set. You know what they say—look good, feel good—and I can't deny that saying rings especially true in the case of matching workout sets.

Boho & Shabby Chic

Often, when I curate an outfit, I like to think about the type of "vibe" I want to exude while wearing it. This Summer, I'm hoping to exude a laid-back, beachy vibe, and nothing helps create this vibe more than boho and shabby chic pieces.

Think ruffles, lace, and pastel floral prints. These styles are details I hope to use for assembling summer outfit vibes straight from a Pinterest board, making shabby/boho chic a definite In for summer 2025.

Statement Shoes

No good outfit is complete without the perfect pair of shoes! This Summer, I'll be leaning towards shoes that make a statement and add an extra layer of dimension to an outfit.

The statement shoes that I'll be sporting most this Summer are none other than my beloved pair of Frye boots. Adding these boots takes an outfit to the next level, and I'm excited to see what other statement shoes might possess the same effect.

I hope you enjoyed reading my list of Summer Ins for 2025. Maybe you'll add some of these Ins to your fashion repertoire for the coming warm months, or brainstorm some of your own that you'll be keeping in this Summer!
